Yempabou Ahmed Ouoba/Twenty Ten

Lieu: Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso

Place: Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso

Thirty eight-year-old sports retailer and soccer enthusiast, Inoussa Rouamba, has been passionate about football for the best part of his life. He is one of the lucky few who has managed to make a living doing something he enjoys – selling sports equipment.

The humble shop in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is a bustling enterprise for Rouamba. Football boots in a range of shapes, sizes and colours dangling from outdoor shelves attract customers day and night to the stall, where its owner has devised a system of marking his products for their convenience. Soccer lovers can browse the impressive collection of different brands, such as brand new Adidas, Nike and Puma shoes. Or, if their budget doesn’t extend that far, there is a selection of second hand boots that Rouamba has restored.

His staff of eight is on hand throughout the day to help customers, and ensure that the shop is run to a high standard.

An avid supporter of local Ouagadougou Shooting Star and the international stars, Real Madrid, Rouamba is excited that the FIFA World Cup will be hosted by an African country in 2010. With all eyes on his continent during the soccer showcase, he hopes that young people will be inspired by the game and go on to represent their country and continent in the future.
